The first stage of 53-km-long road reconstruction worth 3.3 billion rubles is being completed in the Tomsk region

29 August 2017 16:09

The first stage of 53-km-long road reconstruction worth 3.3 billion rubles is being completed in the Tomsk region.

Coming fall, one year after the beginning of the work, the contractor must commission the 12-km-long object that cost 975 million rubles.

The expensive reconstruction must ensure normal all-year-round transportation on Kamaevka-Asino-Pervomayskoye road. This became possible within the frameworks of INO Tomsk project implementation, the region alone would hardly be able to pay for such expensive road repair in the nearest future, but it is now partly funded by the federal budget.

The first funds – 350 million rubles from the regional budget – were allocated for the reconstruction in 2013-2014. At that time, bridge crossings were built on rivers Kul’ and Latat. The main portion of work, constituting the first stage of reconstruction, began in autumn last year. Today Sergey Zhvachkin, Head of the region, who had a working visit to the Asino area, inspected the work. He was satisfied with what he saw, the crews did not fail to keep the pace.

“The road Kamaevka-Asino-Pervomayskoye is needed by both the regions of our eastern areas and for the development of Asino timber complex – one of the largest in the country -, Sergey Zhvachkin reminded. – The reconstruction is going on with the support from the federal budget, so we must finish the project in time and with good quality”. The acting Governor noted that the road repair will solve the problem with logging truck passage over the said area. Prior to the repair, logging trucks delivering timber to the plant were limited in carrying capacity during the off-season. There will be no limitations now: road repair workers took into account the intense traffic load and weight of the trucks.

Currently 6.65 km of asphalt coat have been laid down, supports and the span assembly of the bridge across the river Itatka have been installed, road cover is being put in place, and the road workers are reinforcing the subgrade embankments and remediating the soil. It is planned the the first stage work should be finished by the end of this autumn. The remaining two stages are estimated to cost another almost two billion rubles.

The head of the region told the heads of the Asino area that one should spare no expense on roads while inspecting the quality of repair at local facilities. Following the decision of Mr. Zhvachkin in 2016 and 2017, municipalities of the Tomsk region received additional 0.5 billion rubles to put in shape urban and countryside roads. For the Asino area, this subsidy amounted to 38 million rubles this year (34.5 million in 2016), while the municipal government, on the contrary, reduced its spending on road repairs – to two million rubles against 6.5 million last year.

“I request you to draw attention to this when forming the next year’s budget. Let us together tackle one of the main Russian problems, only then can we solve it… Roads in villages and small towns should be of the same quality as in the regional center” – he acting Governor told the residents of Asino and the road workers.
