Implementation of the “INO Tomsk” project has made the difference in the discussion of a possible future development of the National Research Medical Center based on six Tomsk research and development establishments, reported to journalists Mikhail Kotyukov, the head of the Federal Agency of Scientific Organizations (FASO), on Friday.
Earlier on, it has been reported that FASO is creating National Research Medical Center based on the Tomsk Cancer Research Institute. It will be also affiliated with Cardiology Research Institute, Mental Health Research Institute, Medical Genetics Research Institute, Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology Research Institute as well with Goldberg Pharmacology and Regenerative Medicine Research Institute. The Center will be headed by Evgeny Choynzonov, director of Tomsk Cancer Research Institute. It’s planned that in 2016 alone the organization will get 3,79 billion rubles of financial support (not including finances from Statutory Health Insurance Fund and grant financing).
“This project has been being discussed for quite a long time, there have been different approaches but the work conducted in the framework of “INO Tomsk’ implementation as prompted the solution to this question. I’m convinced that continuing working with the same approach will shortly bring us to actual results leading to the development of Tomsk region, Russian science and health service”, - said Kotyukov.
He has added that Tomsk R&D institutes reorganization order was signed on January 20th and all legal arrangements associated with the medical center should be implemented by the end of 2016.
“Actual actions will be taken starting from the beginning of the second quarter. We expect the center to be legally established by the end of the year. A good many of questions associated with it require a lot of legal work. But I’m pretty sure that <…> all the timeframes will be met. The governor personally supports this project and it will provide it with confidence and hasten the result” – noted the head of FASO.
Sergey Zhvachkin, the Governor of Tomsk region, has pointed out that Tomsk has all necessary facilities to develop the largest medical center in Russia.
“Tomsk has all necessary facilities for center creation. This is the largest center in Russia. As one of the Russian scientific territories, we have been initially focusing on the reorganization as a means to develop our capacity instead of diminishing it. And today we see that the establishment of the center is one of the tasks challenging us to create a unique medical institution based on existing ones” – he said.
