“Photon team of TSUCSR has successfully passed qualification and got the right to participate in the world finals <…> of the “adult” RoboCup Major Leagues, more specifically in Humanoid Soccer league", – says the report.
Based on information of the university, TSUCSR team has made it to the finals according to the results of qualification procedure – team members have been supposed to provide a set of documents confirming their qualification. In particular, the solutions in the field of mechatronics, electronics, software systems and artificial intelligence. The materials are published and available to the public on the RoboCup web-site. It allows participants to constantly improve their level of proficiency.
“Our team is not a first-timer in a world-class competition and we hoped that our participation in RoboCup activities, especially TSUCSR’s performance at last year’s RoboCup German Open, where we came second, would allow the technical committee to make a positive decision” – said Evgeniya Shandarova, chief of robotics and artificial intelligence university laboratory.
As is reported by RIA Tomsk, TSUCSR team is the only Russian participants of this year’s RoboCup finals. The finals will be held this summer in Leipzig (Germany), where Tomsk team will compete with 22 other teams from all over the world.
It has been reported earlier that in spring of 2016 Tomsk will host for the first time RoboCup competitions – framework of the young scientist forum U-NOVUS includes national elimination round for robo-football in several leagues. The winners will also be qualified to participate in the world cup finals. Moreover, in 2018 Tomsk will host World Robo-Football Cup.
