The new development stage for the innovative local cluster “Pharmacy, medical equipment and IT in the Tomsk Region” which is a part of “INO Tomsk” Concept requires an increase in the global awareness about the cluster and its investment appeal. The project team proposed to stake on edgy export projects of technology companies.
The development model of “Smart technology” cluster is based on the existing sustainable cooperation between Tomsk companies, universities and scientific organizations that utilize the infrastructure of the Special Economic Zone of Technology and Innovation type “Tomsk” and aim to use the opportunities presented by the implementation of the “INO Tomsk” Concept, National technology initiative and “5-100” – the project aimed at boosting the international competitiveness of universities.
“We stake on export-oriented project alliances that may create new lines of product for specific niches of fast-growing markets, - said Andrey Antonov, Director of the project, Deputy Governor of the Tomsk Region – It enables us to scale the business, focus resources and increase non-resource exports”.
The project focuses on dynamic small and medium companies as well as on the scaling of business in new hi-tech directions.
Project alliances have 11 fast-growing markets in sight: Computer vision, telemedicine and mobile health, industrial robotics and industrial Internet, probiotics, food supplements and pharma-ingredients, medical equipment and cosmetics. “The mean annual growth rate of each of these markets ranges from 7 to 40 percent”, - Mr. Antonov noted. The Tomsk Region, within the frameworks of its cluster project and the development of project alliances, offers the following products for these markets: a line of encapsulated strains of microorganisms with increased life-span, a line of cross-market products for drones, industrial robots and educational robotics, applications and sensors for health monitoring, biologically active substances based on pine needle extracts, ingredients for pharmaceutical substances, etc.
