“INO Tomsk’ 2020” is a very necessary project. I always supported it and was one of its “initiators”.

Eight years ago an initiative group of Tomsk researchers with the support of the Mayor’s Office developed the project “Tomsk as a world-class educational, R&D and innovative center”. “INO Tomsk’ 2020” is elaborated in more details than its precursor but the main point is the same – to turn our region into a high-tech and intelligence territory.

What role does “INO Tomsk’ 2020” play? The project has set up priorities for Tomsk authorities who have a good grip of the fact that the future of the region lies with education, science and innovations. Some significant growth of extracting industries and traditional industry of Tomsk region is hardly probable. A breakthrough is possible only in the “economy of intelligence”. For this purpose we need to maintain our current rates, systematically generate a new wave of entrepreneurs in the high tech area, provide them with normal conditions for their start. It would be wonderful to establish an analogue of Bortnik Fund in Tomsk region… “INO Tomsk’ 2020” project is setting these and some other high missions to our region.
